Chefchaouen - Akchour

Hi everybody!

I hope you're all doing well and enjoying the great weather of these days ! 
Last week, I went to Chefchaouen and Akchour in the north of Morocco, and I was happily surprised by the amazing landscapes that I found out there. Chefchaouen is a well-known city for its blue walls, blue floors and narrow streets (a bit like Fes actually), so I was expecting to see something original and photogenic. I kinda knew that I would have great pictures without really trying, just thanks to the place. And as a matter of fact, I didn't really needed to edit them that much so I was right. 
However, Akchour was way beyond all of my expectations and it is by far the most paradisiac place I've ever been to. Akchour is a small village located in the middle of nowhere. Actually it's in a valley next to Chefchaouen and it has the most incredible waterfalls that I have ever seen, and maybe the only ones I've ever seen too :P but it was definitely a peace of heaven. 
And even if we had to walk quite a lot to get to the waterfalls (almost an hour to get to the small ones) it was definitely worth the effort. So, if you have the opportunity to go that region, I can assure you that you won't regret the travel!

Hi everybody!

I hope you're all doing well because I have some very good news to share with you today.
My short film "The Actress" has been nominated in two categories at the Screentest Film Festival (The national student film festival): Best young filmmaker and Best Experimental short film!! This is by far one of the coolest things that happened to me lately! It's just very flattering to have my very first short film showcased at a film festival and being nominated is just amazing :D ! 
The second good news is actually quite similar, one of my uni group project has also been chosen at a short film competition called Raw creativity. You've never seen that video before so that is what I will be presenting you today.
Basically, we had to explore a space and relate through that use of space a journey, this was an exercise which was part of my Video Journeys - Lost in space module. We chose to shoot the staircase of my uni, because first it looked great on camera, it had some very interesting perspectives and second because, and you know that (remember this picture), we loved the metaphor behind climbing a stair: this infinite climb leading us to a higher place, is just a source of inspiration. By the way, I've always thought that the fact that we associate what's good with higher places and what's bad coming from some places downstairs (excuse my pun), just like we always heard go up to heaven or down to hell, was very interesting. This spatial separation is a vision displayed by monotheist religions. However, in the greek mythology you'll only hear about a certain underworld where all the souls went after death to be judge then the blessed ones go to Champs Elysees, while the unfortunates go to Tartarus.
I've alway found the greek mythology fascinating :D! Anyway I hope you'll like our work!

SURPRISE!

Hi everybody!

I hope you're all going very well and I am sorry for the lack of post these days but I was working on something new. 

You probably don't know that, but one of my first passion is actually music. I started the piano at 8 years old but never took it very seriously until I began yo write my own material 3 years ago (I also play the guitar but I am very bad at it :P ).
Writing my own songs enabled me to obtain great marks in music :D , but most importantly it helped me get my feelings out and overcome my natural shyness. It was also my therapeutic way to forget high school. I wasn't bullied or anything, I was just not in the right place, studying things that I didn't like, reducing my creativity and to be honest I was asleep most of the time.

However, songwriting gave me the satisfaction that I couldn't get anywhere else. I never thought that I would be able to write a song one day, it just made feel so proud of being myself.
I've never been someone very confident, I'm quite comfortable in my shoes but that's it. Learning to converse and interact with people took me ages. I guess I was born socially inept but I am getting better, it is not something that you can't improve, it just takes time.
And at a time where I was slightly loosing my smile, creating (no matter the medium: photography, video, dance, music...) felt like an aphrodisiac. So, I just wrote more and more songs, took more and and more photos, and shared some of it with you guys !

I don't especially appreciate to talk about myself, I mean personally because I adore to talk about my work, but when I do I'm never concise, sorry about that !

Ok, let's talk about the song now. It's called "Cry my name" and it is basically about heartbreak and regrets but still with the will of moving on I guess. It is not a personal song, it's just inspired by my different observations of relationships around me. It is very sad, I must've been really depressed when I wrote it because, even if the lyrics are not about me, the feeling is mine.
Besides, bear in mind that this is just a debut, there's only my voice and the piano which is not how I imagined the song but I couldn't do it any other way.
Concerning the video, we shot in an old cinema (cinema Lutetia in downtown Casablanca, west coast, yeah ✌), and it is actually the piano on which i learned to play that we transported from my house to the cinema! Special thanks to my dad who was in charge of all the technical stuff (lights, location, transportation...).
Unfortunately, I can only see the bad points which is the reason why it took me 2 weeks to post it: there's some parts that aren't on focus and a problem of continuity (with my haircut). That's what happens when you're in front of the camera you can't control everything!

Anyway, I hope you'll like my song and my music video. See you soon with some other surprises!! :D

Hi everybody!

    I hope you're all having an amazing festive season and that you are enjoying your holidays!
Here is a documentary we made at uni for our final documentary practice assessment. It is definitely different from all I have been doing so far but it was very interesting to explore something new, even if I am not sure that I would like to produce more documentaries in the future, I think I prefer fiction. Anyway, we choose a subject that was rarely treated in documentaries before: pansexuality. 
    As a matter of fact only three recognized films shows that kind of subject. Moreover, Amy was such a lovely person, she was really open to talk about that part of her intimacy with us, we definitely had a great time filming !
I hope our documentary will enlighten you on what pansexuality is!

This Is Abuse

Hi everybody!

I hope you're all having great holidays! I just came back home a few days ago and I am really enjoying it :D

The project I am going to show you is an exercise we had to do in group (we were 4) for our Video portrait final assessment. Basically, we had to produce a 5-minute video that explores the way that the media represents human subjects. We chose a topic that we thought relevant to these days. As nowadays everybody talks about feminism, we wanted to show and raise awareness about something different, that nobody's really taking that seriously even if it does happen all the time. The video speaks for itself, Enjoy! :D

Hi everybody!

I hope you're all going very well! Basically, these past 3 weeks I have been busy shooting different projects for my final assignments of this semester. For the Video Technology module, we were in group of four and we had to interpret and shoot a 2 pages script of an existing movie that we absolutely didn't know, in a 2 min video. Moreover, the second part of the evaluation will actually require us to write a 800 words essay to point the differences between our movie and the actual one.

The Youtube Scene Documentary

Hi everybody!

Last week, I had to write a treatment for a 7 to 10 min documentary that I will hopefully shoot in the next couple of weeks if it got chosen! 
I actually chose the Youtube scene as a subject, because I think that the statistics are just incredible. The fact that more than one billion unique users visit YouTube every month to watch more than six billion hours of video, averaging nearly an hour per person on Earth, is beyond fascinating! 

Being a viewer myself, I think that there is a lot of elements about this job that could interest any other viewer and especially the financial part. How do they monetize their videos, is definitely a question I will raise in this documentary. 

Moreover, there is not that much documentaries about Youtubers, which is intriguing because the numbers and the infatuation provoked definitely prove that they have as much impact as any other mainstream star, and that really made me want to do it!
