ICELAND

Hi everyone!

I hope everything's great! Last week, I went to Reykjavik in Iceland. It was such an amazing experience! Reykjavik is actually one of the northernmost capital in the world and indeed it was pretty cold out there. Not as cold as I expected to be, but still colder than London. This country definitely doesn't look like anything I've seen in the past, it is absolutely unique and incomparable to any other european typic cities. Everything about Iceland is different: their food, their way of living, their horses, their landscapes. Everything felt new, and knowing that it was where the vikings used to live and hold their famous festivities was quite exciting. Oh and I also got to see the northern lights!!! This was one of the most beautiful things I've seen in my entire life! Unfortunately, by the time I set up my tripod, they were gone so I only got a glimpse of it in one of my pictures but it's alright at least I've seen it !
It was very refreshing to go there, hope I could go back there one day!

Björk - It's Oh So Quiet

MANTISSE

Hi everyone!

As I told you last week, I am currently working on a short film. It is called Mantisse and it is basically the story of an inspector trying to interrogate a housewife suspected for the murder of her husband. I don't wanna go into details because it is not finished yet and I don't really wanna spoil it! 
The story will explore how speech and rhetoric can be manipulated to get certain informations. The short film is also a satire of TV interrogations which always tends to go towards the same directions.

Justin Timberlake - Holy Grail

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all doing well! I know it's been a while but I've been busy these past few weeks. I'm actually working on a short film which is extremely exciting as it is all happening in an interrogation room. We will start the shooting in two days so you will hopefully have a glimpse on it very soon.

In the meantime, I just found this picture that I took from a trip in the US three years ago, and I wanted to try something new with it. Not that I am tired of black and white, I just wanted to try a kind of dark pop art. 

The building in the picture is actually a hotel but it really looked scary and even repulsing once I edited it, which I wasn't expecting by using such vivid colors. I have to admit that they are quite dark too but still it almost looks like a haunted manor now! I also tried to emphasize the instability of the montage by defeating the expected symmetry of it. As you can see the the two pictures at the top aren't symmetric while the two others below definitely are.

Hi everyone!



I hope you're all doing well! Today, I am going to present you the weirdest project I've been involved in so far. It is actually based on a nigerian folk tale, and it relates the story of a desperate woman who tries to get her husband back after she discovered that the latter cheated on her, and that his mistress is pregnant. Yes, this was already enough complicated, but to spice it a little more, she decides to get the advices of a witch doctor. Ready for everything to get her man back, she applies the uncommon recommendation of the witch and from this point on, the short film reaches a whole new level. I don't want to spoil it and I think it speaks for itself so I might just let you watch it and express your feelings afterward.  I hope you'll like it and that you won't be forever disturbed by this unconventional experience :)

Terror

Hi everyone!

I couldn't stay silent any longer after the unconceivable sequence of events that happened these past few days (earthquakes in Japan and 2 massive terrorist attacks in Lebanon and France). It is with profound sadness that I have been once again, and that we've all been spectators of a world going wrong. 

Terror has always been the easiest way to destabilize a civilization and establish a profound chaos in its organization, which then allows its attackers to rule or destroy it. It has been the case in dictatorships from Robespierre to Kadhafi. The problem in nowadays's reconstitution of History is the knowledge of the enemy. There is no specific enemy you could point. More frightening, the enemy is part of the population and his will is to divide the latter population. 

Will we submit ourselves to terror and bring shame upon the great men and women of History? Will we fight against it even if there has never been a threat of this genre in History?

Does terror have more weight than hope and the will to claim a vision of liberty? Isn't attacking freedom an attack in humanity's belief?

You have guessed the rhetorical twist of these questions and I do believe we all answered the same responses to the latter interrogations. However, I don't want to spend any more time on politics. 

My concern is the following: as a normally constituted human being I still have some utopian ideas and I am only using the word utopian because the past events of this week affected my usual optimistic vision of the world. I don't think that a world based on love, tolerance, respect and peace is impossible to reach. 

Nevertheless, to accomplish that, every single person of this macrocosm needs to feel as a part of the whole, as being a proper member of it. 

Exclusion is what creates terrorism because it causes a loss of identity. Then to eradicate such a threat, we need to completely reconsider the functioning of our modern societies and stop the ghettoisation of our own populations.

These pictures were taken at Highgate Cemetry two weeks ago, I had planned to write an article about our apprehension of death, however I felt it was more suitable to keep abreast of current political events.

Years & Years - Eyes Shut

Ambulant anachronisms

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all doing fine and that you're enjoying the last summer rays of the season! 
This week, I've been watching and sorting some photos I took during my trips this summer.
And I found out that most of the pictures I took roughly on the road were just objects from a lost time, or as I would describe them: ambulant anachronisms. 
It's crazy to see how a simple object (phones, clothes, or even food) enables us to depict a period of time, an atmosphere and even a mindset in a way. As a matter of fact, most of the utensils we use now are aimed to be performant and efficient in a matter of time, it shows us how our day and age is rythmed by a will to be massively productive. I'm not going to criticize our modern societies, because I've decided to accept evolution and going backward would probably be a mistake. However, it always strikes how the common Man is always picturing the past as being better and more appreciable than the present. I am saying that because I use to think it too, however it's hard going forward in life if you keep looking to the past, isn't it? 
But please enjoy some random pictures I took on the road, we'll have a deeper conversation later, believe me ;)
Plus this is a lot more colorful than usually so have a loook!
